Panaji: Police have registered an offence (Crime No. 0200/2025) under Section 305 of the BNS-2023 against Pramod Shinde, a resident of Kothrud, Pune, for allegedly stealing two gold bangles (kadas) worth ₹4 lakh from the bedroom of a complainant’s house in Kothrud.
At the time of the theft, Shinde had been entrusted with painting work at the residence. Following the crime, the accused went absconding and was believed to be hiding within the jurisdiction of Mapusa Police Station in Goa. Upon receiving the information, Superintendent of Police (North) Rahul Gupta, IPS, directed Mapusa Police Inspector Nikhil Palekar to take immediate action.
A search operation was launched, leading to the arrest of Shinde and the recovery of the stolen property. Pune City Police were informed, and the accused was handed over to them for further investigation.
The successful operation was carried out under the supervision of SP Rahul Gupta by PI Nikhil Palekar, PSI Vishal Mandrekar (O/o SP North), PC Rajesh N. Kandoklkar (PC-7015), and PC Mahendra Mandrekar (PC-6473).
The complainant has conveyed heartfelt appreciation through a written email, praising Goa Police for their prompt and efficient action in tracing the accused and recovering the stolen ornaments.
