MARGAO:The Margao Congress Block today strongly criticised the Electricity Department for the outage/Power Shutdown, scheduled for 19th November and 21st November 2024.
Congress leader Savio Coutinho demanded for the rescheduling of Shutdown proposed on 19th and 21/11/2024, being the eve of Feast day and second day of our Lady of Rosary Church Navelim.
Coutinho stated that the residents and himself are shocked that the Electricity Department has proposed for a shutdown of power supply on 19th and 21/11/2024 between 9am to 3 PM, which coincides with the Novena/Feast days of Our Lady of Rosary Church Navelim.
He pointed out that a notice dated 14/11/2024 has been issued by the Department, which stated that the scheduled outage/Power Shutdown on the transformer centers in the Sirvodem areas, is for replacement of LV Board, feeder pillars and service pillars. “Couldn’t this work be undertaken on some other days? why on the Feast days?, he questions.
Our Lady of Rosary church, Navelim, is one of one of the most important Church in entire South Goa, which sees the participation of people from all religions, as such having a shutdown during the Feast days shall severely effect all in general, he said.
“It is therefore our strong demand that the proposed outage/Power Shutdown be reschedule for some other dates in Colmorod, behind Navelim Church and Sirvodem areas as listed in your notice”, Mr Coutinho said.
