MARGAO: Margao Congress Block Convener, Savio Coutinho, has criticized the government’s indifferent approach towards the preservation and restoration of the historic house of Dr. Francisco Luis Gomes at Colmorod, Margao.
Coutinho alleged that the Margao MLA, in whose constituency the house is located, merely garlands the statue of Dr. F. L. Gomes twice a year—on his birth and death anniversaries—without taking any meaningful steps to preserve the legacy of the eminent Goan thinker and politician. He further pointed out that despite holding the position of Chief Minister, the MLA has made no effort to acquire or restore the historic property.
Highlighting the current role of the MLA as the PWD Minister, Mr. Coutinho urged him to actively take up the acquisition and restoration of Dr. F. L. Gomes’ house, ensuring that the heritage of this great personality is properly preserved for future generations.
