New Delhi: Margao Sports Club advanced to the semifinals of the 1st Late Antonio Colaco Memorial Football Tournament, organized by Mandopa SC, after a thrilling victory over Sporting Club of Davorlim. The match, held at the Rosary Church ground in Navelim, ended in a 1-1 draw in regular time, with Margao’s Rahul Sharma scoring early in the 14th minute and William Niasso equalizing for Davorlim in the 55th minute.
The intense contest was decided by a penalty shootout, where Margao Sports Club proved to be the better shooters, edging out Davorlim 6-5 to secure their place in the next round.
Despite Sporting Club of Davorlim’s defeat, William Niasso’s exceptional performance earned him the Man of the Match award, highlighting his impact on the field throughout the game. The tournament continues to showcase competitive football as teams battle for the championship title.
