Assolda: Margao Sports Club were crowned champions of the 17th St. Anthony Festival Cup after defeating United Club of Seraulim 6–5 via a tense tiebreaker in the finals played at the Moll Ground, Assolda. Alfred Noronha gave Margao a dream start by scoring in the 2nd minute, but Seraulim fought back as Prosen Mandal netted the equaliser in the 36th minute. With the score locked at 1–1 at full time, the match was decided through penalties, where Margao SC proved more clinical to lift the prestigious title.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral as the chief guest, in the presence of Sidharth Gauns Desai, Adv. Livia Antao, GFA Vice-President Anthony Pango, Fr. George Ratos, Shubert Furtado, Andrew Ferrao, Constancio Paul Rodrigues, Melvin D’Costa, Cosme Oliver, Custodio Fernandes, all panch members, and other dignitaries and club officials.
Individual awards were presented to Alfred Noronha (First Scorer of Finals), Prosen Mandal (Best Midfielder of Finals), Kevon Araujo (Best Defender of Finals), Milton from Seraulim (Best Goalkeeper of Finals), Joel Fernandes from Paroda (Top Scorer of Tournament), and Cliff Baretto (Man of the Match). The Best Disciplined Team award went to United Club of Ambaulim. Margao SC’s victory was a showcase of skill, resilience, and composure under pressure, sealing their place as worthy champions of the tournament.
