MARGAO: A case of online cheating has been reported in Margao, where a woman was duped of Rs 2.2 lakh by fraudsters promising high returns through a fake work-from-home job.
According to police, the complaint was filed by Gotru Kranti Rajkumar, a resident of Margao and native of Andhra Pradesh. She stated that between March 9 and March 13, 2026, unknown accused persons approached her with an online job offer, claiming she could earn substantial profits.
Believing the offer to be genuine, the complainant transferred a total amount of Rs 2,20,000 in multiple transactions as instructed by the accused.
However, after receiving the money, the accused failed to provide any returns or refund the invested amount, thereby cheating the victim.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Swadesh Dessai of the Margao Town Police Station (MTPS).
