PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that Goa has created a pool of Master Trainers to ensure the smooth implementation of India’s new criminal laws, enabling police, prosecution, and forensic officers to work effectively under the updated legal framework.
Addressing the valedictory function of the Training of Trainers Workshop organised under the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD), Sawant said, “The Master Trainers will now carry forward the training across the force, ensuring that every officer is fully equipped to work under the new citizen-centric criminal laws.”
The workshop, attended by 65 officers from police, prosecution, and forensic departments, focused on the three new codes—Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA)—which replace colonial-era laws. Sawant noted that the reforms aim to deliver faster trials, strengthen forensic investigation, enhance victim support, and build accountability into the justice system.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also launched the Goa Police–Yoska App partnership under the Fit Goa Police initiative, designed to promote health and fitness among personnel. “A fitter police force means better service to citizens,” he said, stressing that fitness and efficiency go hand in hand in modern policing.
Sawant lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for ushering in a citizen-first legal system and urged the new trainers to set an example of professionalism as they guide colleagues across the state and country.
