CHICALIM: A comprehensive upgrade of facilities at Chicalim Sub-District Hospital is on the cards following an on-site inspection carried out by Panchayat Minister and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho after a recent healthcare review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
During the visit, Godinho reviewed the existing infrastructure and interacted with officials to assess urgent requirements for strengthening services at the hospital. The inspection focused on augmenting manpower and improving medical facilities to cater to the growing needs of patients from Chicalim and nearby areas.
Following the Chief Minister’s directions, Pranab Bhat, Joint Secretary (Finance), was deputed along with officials from the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), GSIDC, PWD and the Directorate of Panchayats to ensure that decisions are taken on the spot without delays due to file movement.
The assessment covered the need for additional doctors, nurses, technicians and support staff to ease the burden on existing personnel. Infrastructure requirements discussed included strengthening dialysis services, increasing bed capacity, enhancing dental facilities, upgrading operation theatre equipment and carrying out other essential improvements.
Godinho said that a substantial portion of the proposed improvements is expected to be visible within the next few weeks. He added that steps are also being initiated for proper annual maintenance to ensure sustained and quality healthcare services for the people.
