Margao: MCC Knights advanced to Qualifier 2 of the MCL 11 T20 cricket tournament after registering a convincing 58 run victory over MCC Masters in the Eliminator match played at the MCC Ground, Margao.
Batting first, MCC Knights put up a competitive total of 162 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Sairaj Dhond led the scoring with a fluent 38, while Vikram Gaitonde contributed 23. Ameet Kakode, Kapil D S Borker and Siddhant Ghanekar chipped in with 18 runs each to strengthen the total. For MCC Masters, Dr Prasad Ghode was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 30, supported by Sudesh Prabhudesai who took 2 for 20 and Dr Sunny with 1 for 15.
In reply, MCC Masters were dismissed for 104 runs in 15 overs. Vikrant Prabhu top scored with 37, while Dr Prasad Ghode added 18. Siddhant Ghanekar starred with the ball for MCC Knights, claiming an impressive 5 for 14. He received good support from Vipul Kalekar, who took 2 for 8, and Vikram Gaitonde with 1 for 20.
Siddhant Ghanekar was named Man of the Match for his outstanding all round performance. MCC Knights will now face MCC Thunder in Qualifier 2 on December 26.
