Panaji: MCC Thunder climbed to the top of the MCL 11 standings after a narrow two-wicket win over MCC Avengers in a T20 match at the MCC Ground in Margao. Ved Mahambre’s steady all-around show earned him the player of the match award.
Batting first, the Avengers posted 165 for 9 in 20 overs, with contributions from Venkatesh Nevagi (24), Amod Borkar (35), and Vedant Naik (40). Thunder kept control through disciplined spells from Sudhir Shet, who took two for 22, and Sudesh Rane, who claimed two for 44. Mahambre, Dr Rohan Badve, and Om Fadte picked up a wicket each.
Thunder chased down the target in 19.5 overs, finishing at 168 for eight. Om Fadte led with 36, Roshan Naik scored 39, and Mahambre added 38. For the Avengers, Borkar took two for 32 while Siddhant Amonkar, Nevagi, and Gopal Gawas took a wicket apiece.
