Margao: MCC Tigers sealed a spot in the final of the MCL 11 T20 cricket tournament after registering a gritty 10-run win over MCC Thunder in Qualifier 1. The victory ensured direct qualification for the final, while MCC Thunder will get another opportunity to book their place when they face the winner of the second qualifier between MCC Knights and MCC Masters on December 26.
Batting first, MCC Tigers posted a strong total of 190 for 7 in their 20 overs, built on solid contributions across the order. Chaitanya Kamat and Vaibhav Naik both scored 34, while Nikit Naik Dalal added 33 and Viraj Tar chipped in with 32. For MCC Thunder, Iftikhar Agha was the most effective bowler with figures of 2 for 30. Roshan Naik, Paul Fernandes, Sudhir Shet, Ved Mahambre, and Rohan Badve picked up a wicket each.
In reply, MCC Thunder mounted a spirited chase and remained in contention till the closing stages before finishing on 180 for 9. Om Fadte top-scored with 38, while Roshan Naik contributed 36 and Sahil Adwalpalkar made 35. Tight bowling in the death overs proved decisive for the Tigers. Mrunmay Das led the attack with 2 for 29, well supported by Ketan Kunde, Nikit Naik Dalal, and Viraj Tar.
Nikit Naik Dalal was named Man of the Match for his all-around performance.
