PONDA: Stating that the median gap at Curti on NH has turned into a death trap due to growing accidents, the locals have demanded to close the median gap to prevent dangerous accidents in future.
A U-turn and sudden crossing of the vehicles disturb NH traffic passing from four lanes in opposite directions.
Sandeep Parkar, a local at Curti, said today there was an accident between two vehicles while taking a sudden U-turn. Luckily, the car occupant escaped unhurt.
He said he had discussed the issue with the deputy collector and would handover a memorandum on behalf of locals to close the median gap.
He said this zone of NH is a hot spot for truck parking by the side of the road, and due to the movement of trucks parked by both sides of the road, there are chances of major accidents.
Earlier, he said he had highlighted this median gap at Curti-Khandepar gram sabha, a death trap for vehicle riders.
This median is one of the main reasons for accidents at that place and also for illegal truck parking. The NH official could not be contacted for their reaction.
