VALPOI: With the severity of the COVID19 pandemic on a decrease, Currently, the members have demanded that the election of the board of directors of Sattari Taluka Farmers Society be held soon.
For the last three months, the business of the organization has come to a complete standstill.
The members have demanded that the co-operative department hold the elections immediately as this is likely to affect the organisation’s future.
It is learned that after the expiry of the term of the Board of Directors of STFS, the Co-operative Department had announced the election program for the election of the Board of Directors.
Accordingly, aspiring candidates had filed their applications on this board. However, recognizing the seriousness of Covid, the government decided to postpone the elections indefinitely.
It is almost two months away.
At present, the business of this organization seems to be stalled.
Members say the government should have appointed an administrative committee for this organization. However, the matter has not been pursued further.
This is especially so in banking transactions, loan disbursements, acceptance of FD , etc. cannot be done in the banking sector.
This has had an impact on the banking services of society. Similarly, sources said policy decisions could not be taken from the point of view of the betterment of the organization.
Due to this, the members have demanded that the Co-operative Department should immediately announce the election and appoint a board of directors on this body.
The Covid period of the last one and a half years has had a significant impact on the organisation’s operations against the backdrop of frequent curfews imposed by the government.
The Board of Directors could not be appointed due to non-election. This has adversely affected the future of the organization.
18 candidates have filed nominations for a total of 11 director posts as per the announced election program
The candidature are filed by – Part 1:- Dhananjay Desai, Tukaram Khot, Kanta Gavkar, Afsar Khan, Vilasrao Rane, Zero Gavkar, Pandurang Gavas, Shahaji Desai, Sagun Wadkar, Pradip Gawdalkar, Narayan Gavkar, Anil Katkar, Mrs. Roshan Desai Mrs. Suranga Naik.
