MERCES: The Sessions Court (Special Judge – Prevention of Corruption Act) has directed the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to register an FIR against the Secretary, Sarpanch, and other officials of the Santa Cruz Village Panchayat over alleged irregularities in a garbage collection labour contract.
The move follows complaints by Opposition Panch member Inacio Domnic Pereira, who has alleged a monthly misappropriation of ₹2.96 lakh under the pretext of labour payments for garbage collection.
Pereira had initially filed a complaint with the ACB on May 31, followed by a supplementary complaint on June 5, but no FIR had been registered so far. He has now written to the Superintendent of Police, ACB, urging immediate action.
The opposition panch claims the alleged scam involves ghost workers or inflated payment records within the village’s sanitation workforce.
“This is public money being drained every month under false pretenses. I have submitted evidence and expect a swift investigation,” Pereira said.
