VALPOI: An FIR has been registered in connection with a metal pipe theft after security staff caught one of the accused red-handed while committing the offence.
According to a complaint lodged by M. Sermathurai, Deputy Chief Security Officer, police registered FIR No. 02/2025 under Sections 303 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case pertains to the theft of iron metal pipes valued at approximately ₹80,000 from an open space.
Police stated that accused No. 1, identified as Ibrahimsaheb Gausaab Guttal, was caught red-handed while cutting an iron pipe using a gas cutter, oxygen cylinder and other gas-cutting equipment. The other accused in the case have been identified as Laxman, Govind and others.
The accused allegedly committed theft of the metal pipes by unlawfully cutting and removing them from the site. The seized gas-cutting equipment was also taken into custody as part of the investigation.
Further investigation in the matter is being carried out by PSI Khusali Naik under the supervision of PI Videsh P. Shirodkar.
