MARCAIM: Maharashtrwadi Gomantak Party (MGP) declared that it would continue alliance with the BJP, its present coalition partner, for the 2027 elections.
The announcement was made nearly a week after Chief Minister Pramod Sawant met with MGP leader and Minister Sudin Dhavalikar to discuss potential future collaboration.
Dhavalikar told reporters that the MGP and BJP would remain in their alliance for the 2027 election. He claimed that after speaking with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the decision was made.
“In the 2027 election, we have chosen to support the BJP. We have chosen to stay in our alliance since the BJP is a larger party,” he stated.
In response to the inquiry on seat sharing, Dhavalikar stated that the party cannot arbitrarily demand any seats in the absence of a stronghold. “We must work in those constituencies, build up our party, and establish a strong, winnable platform before requesting a seat,” he stated.
However, he insisted that the choice about seat sharing would be made closer to the election. He added that the MGP has been putting a lot of effort into strengthening and growing the party over the past two years.
