PANAJI: A delegation of the Mhadei Bachao Abhiyan (MBA) met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, urging police protection to visit the Kankumbi and Bhandura regions to assess the ground situation related to the Mhadei diversion project.
The delegation also pressed the government to make special efforts to expedite the Mhadei hearing in the Supreme Court, conduct an aerial survey of the ongoing works, and facilitate a joint visit to the project sites.
Additionally, MBA appealed to the Chief Minister to convene a meeting between the Abhiyan and the Union Environment Minister to deliberate on the environmental concerns arising from the diversion project.
