PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the central government had accepted Goa’s demand to set up ‘PRAWAH’, i.e. Mhadei Water Authority office in the capital city of Panaji.
“I am thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for accepting our demand to set up PRAWAH’ i.e. Mhadei Water Authority office in the capital city of Panaji,” said Sawant.
He further said that with the office being in Panaji, it would help Goa raise objections and also control if any extra water is diverted other then what has been awarded by the tribunal earlier.
“I don’t want to speak anything on the Opposition; I am working to protect the interest of the state,’ he added.
Sawant said that no matter what anyone says, the state is firm in its decision and will do whatever has to be done for Mhadei, legally, politically, and technically.
“We are taking whatever steps need to be taken,” he said.
He said that the establishment of the authority would help in preventing illegal diversion of water, and it also reaffirms the fact that Union Govt will not allow any injustice in Goa.
The Union government recently approved the Detailed Project Report submitted by Karnataka on its plan to construct dams at the Khalsa and Bhanduri tributaries of the river.
