Calangute: Hours after denial of quitting and joining any party Minister Michael Lobo is finally set to resign from the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday or Thursday, sources close to the minister said.
For almost a year now, there has been a buzz that Lobo would quit the party.
Sources told Goemkarponn, Lobo has already spoken to his key supporters and leaders of quitting BJP this morning.
He is expected to join the Congress and has already had discussions with that party leaders, sources said.
The report came even after BJP state president maintained Lobo is not going anywhere and has promised to stay in BJP.
Lobo’s close confidante and friend Reis Magos Sarpanch Kedar Naik resigned from primary membership of BJP, this evening.
Kedar is set to join Congress tomorrow evening.
Earlier today, Lobo said that some of the BJP karyakartas have been sidelined by the party and that he has raised this issue with CM Pramod Sawant and State President Sadanand Tanavade.
“I have never said that i will be leaving the BJP but some of the BJP karyakartas have been sidelined by the party and that he has raised this issue with CM Pramod Sawant and State President Sadanand Tanavade,” said Lobo
He further said that party wants winning leaders and importing leaders and that high command should intervene into this and get to a solution to issues of karyakartas.
“We have realised that party is no more with any difference. At one point, the karyakartas were given importance but it is not the same anymore. Today the party leaders literally ask the karyakartas to walk away if they cannot accept the decision taken by party leaders. Such language and behavior was not allowed during the time of Ex-CM Manohar Parrikar,” said Lobo.
There were speculations that Lobo is inching closer to Congress and could quit the BJP soon. It was rumoured that he was unhappy that the BJP leadership is neither keen on giving an election ticket to his wife Delilah Lobo nor are they willing to support her candidature as an independent.
