Calangute: In response to the relocation of Asia’s largest EDM festival, Sunburn, from Goa to Mumbai for its 2025 edition, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has urged the state government to take immediate action to bring the event back to its original home.
Lobo expressed disappointment over the festival’s shift and stated that he would personally engage with the promoters of Sunburn and raise the matter with the Tourism Minister. He emphasized the economic and tourism benefits the festival brings to Goa each year.
“Sunburn brings thousands of tourists to Goa and creates a significant economic flow during that period. This is good for our state, and we must work to bring it back,” Lobo said.
Highlighting the importance of Sunburn not just as a music event but as a major contributor to the local economy and tourism industry, Lobo added, “We want this to come back. The Chief Minister and the Tourism Minister should take this seriously and ensure Sunburn returns to its original home.”
The call comes after Sunburn organisers officially announced their decision to move the 2025 edition to Mumbai, citing an upgraded experience and larger scale for attendees.
