PANAJI: A day after disclosing the name to Goa Governor, Congress President Girish Chodankar today went public to name Minister Milind Naik in the alleged sex scandal.
Addressing a press conference today, Chodankar said that Mormugao BJP MLA Milind Naik is the Minister involved in the alleged sex scandal. The party has filed an official complaint against Naik before the women’s police station.
Chodankar demanded that the Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant, immediately sack Milind Naik from the cabinet and take the necessary action as per law.
“At least now CM should act against the minister and sack him,” he asserted.
Chodankar also urged Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to give the victim the required confidence and support to stand up and seek justice in the case, as the victim claims to be from Bihar.
The victim apparently has filed a complaint at Muffasil police station at Bihar against Congress leader Sankalp Amonkar and four others alleging threatening, extortion, sexual harassment and criminal conspiracy.
Based on her complaint, which was forwarded by Bihar police to South Goa SP, Mormugao Police have registered FIR against Amonkar and four others.
Chodankar had exposed the alleged sex scandal involving a Minister almost a fortnight back. The Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant, had assured to take action against the Minister if the name is disclosed and if found guilty.
BJP president Sadanand Shet Tanavade had challenged Chodankar to name the Minister.
BJP core committee had also raised concern over the serious allegation, and the issue was taken up to party high command.
On Tuesday, Chodankar met Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai, revealed the Minister’s name, and demanded action.
Over a week after Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President (GPCC) Girish Chodankar alleged that a minister in the state government had misused his office and sexually exploited a woman, a complaint has been filed by a woman in Bihar accusing a Congress leader and party workers from South Goa of extortion, sexual harassment and criminal conspiracy.
On November 30, Chodankar had alleged that a minister in the government led by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had sexually exploited a woman and claimed to have evidence in the form of a video, audio, and WhatsApp chats to prove it.
Chodankar had said that he was refraining from naming the Minister out of decency so that the woman and the Minister’s families, who were not at fault, were protected. He had asked the government to act against the Minister by December 15.
