PANAJI: Transport and Panchayati Raj Minister Mauvin Godinho came down heavily on panchayat secretaries opposing the proposed AI-based attendance system, calling their resistance an attempt to avoid punctuality and accountability.
Speaking to reporters, Godinho said, “Those who are opposing the AI attendance system are simply trying to avoid being punctual and accountable. This is a progressive move aimed at improving governance at the grassroots.”
He added that only a few minor formalities remain and that the system will be rolled out soon across panchayat offices in the state. The AI-based attendance mechanism is expected to track work hours and ensure better efficiency in service delivery.
In a separate statement, Godinho also credited Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane for the Chicalim Sub-District Hospital receiving a national award for excellence in public healthcare infrastructure.
“The credit for this achievement goes to our Health Minister and Chief Minister for their vision and efforts in upgrading healthcare facilities in Goa,” he said.
