CANACONA: Minister for Arts & Culture Govind Gaude addressed the Pagi community at the closing ceremony of the Akhil Goa Kshatriya Pagui Samaj’s (AGKPS) 40th anniversary event, the Sagar Kala Manthan Melava-2025, held at Devgi-purush Hall, Patnem. Gaude emphasized self-reliance, telling the community that “no one else will come to lift your luggage for you,” urging them to work hard for their own upliftment.
“Those who only dream at night achieve nothing. You must day-dream to succeed,” Gaude said, expressing confidence in the community’s capabilities.
Minister for Fisheries Nilkant Halarnkar encouraged members to utilize government schemes, highlighting a ₹5 lakh insurance benefit available for fishermen. Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar also spoke at the event, which was attended by notable figures including Rajesh Tarkar Halarnkar, Agonda Sarpanch Nilesh Pagi, and others.
The event featured the launch of the AGKPS App, designed by Raguvendra Kishore Pagui, which contains detailed profiles of community members including their qualifications and employment status.
Community students who scored above 90% in last year’s SSC and HSSC exams were felicitated. Several community leaders and past AGKPS presidents were honored for their contributions, including ex-Army officer Pandurang Pagi and others recognized for selfless service.
The Pagi Premier League organizing team and participants also received mementos from dignitaries.
AGKPS President Divakar Pagui delivered the welcome address, and the event included cultural performances by community members. The ceremony was also attended by ward councilor Shubham Komarpant, AGKPS secretary Rudresh Namshikar, Treasurer Sameer Kankonkar, and others.
