Panaji: Minister for Public Works Digambar Kamat urged citizens to actively support the government’s efforts to transform the State into Viksit Goa by 2037.
Expressing concern over opposition from certain sections to welfare projects related to educational institutions, Kamat said that allowing educational institutions of international stature would help Goa build world-class educational infrastructure for future generations.
Such initiatives, he added, would greatly benefit the student community, and people should understand their importance and extend support to welfare-oriented development projects to achieve the goal of Viksit Goa 2037.
Highlighting various welfare schemes implemented by the government, the Minister said these initiatives have benefited people across the State. He noted that the recently launched Maje Ghar Yojana has proved beneficial by granting legal rights to houses built on comunidade land prior to 2014.
The government is also supporting young entrepreneurs through the Mukhyamantri Rojgar Yojana and extending assistance to differently-abled persons through various measures.
Shri Kamat said the successful organisation of Purple Fest in Goa provided an inclusive platform for persons with disabilities to showcase their skills and talents.
He also referred to the Bul Bul Children’s Festival held recently in Margao, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from children and promoted creativity, films and cultural values.
The Minister lauded the government’s decision to form the State’s third district, Kushavati, stating that it would help bring administration closer to the people.
Calling upon citizens to contribute towards national development, Shri Kamat said collective efforts would ensure that India soon emerges as a global superpower.
Earlier, Kamat received a Guard of Honour from the police contingent and inspected the march past by police personnel, Home Guards, NCC cadets and students from various schools. Schoolchildren also presented patriotic songs and cultural dances on the occasion.
