PANAJI: In a major push towards sustainable urban development and sanitation excellence, Minister for Urban Development, Vishwajit P. Rane launched the Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 campaign, the PM SVANidhi Scheme, and PMAY-U 2.0 Angikaar 2025 at the Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji.
The event, held under the theme Swachhotsav, was organised by the Department of Urban Development in collaboration with the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA).
Announcing a landmark welfare measure, Shri Rane declared that all Safai Karmacharis across the State will be provided with free annual health checkups and medicines.
“Dignity of labour is paramount. We must respect and acknowledge the work of sanitation workers,” he said, stressing their indispensable role in Goa’s progress.
To further boost civic participation and accountability, the Minister announced State-Level Awards for the Cleanest Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). Municipalities will compete for cash prizes of ₹10 lakh (first), ₹5 lakh (second), and ₹3 lakh (third).
Additionally, the winning municipality will be supported with a new infrastructure project under GSUDA.
Calling on citizens to take collective responsibility for a cleaner and healthier Goa, Shri Rane reiterated the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and urged all stakeholders to actively contribute to the Swachh Bharat Mission, which continues nationwide till October 2, 2025.
