PANAJI: A day after Panaji MLA Babush Monserrate alleged of a job scam in the PWD to the tune of Rs 70 crore, PWD minister has refuted allegations calling them false and baseless.
“After GMC, i am now saying that PWD jobs too have been fixed. Bribe of Rs 25 lakhs was paid to the PWD Minister and inturn the candidates received the highest marks; This scam is to the tune of Rs 70 crore,” alleged Monserrate
He further said that he has met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in this regard and urged him to withdraw the said vacancies in the PWD and to push it through the staff selection committee.
“I have proof that PWD Minister sold jobs for Rs 25 to 30 lakhs for each of the Engineer post. This scam is to the tune of Rs 70 cr,” he added
Babush has demanded that a fresh exam be conducted and the concerned minister must be put of notice.
Meanwhile, reacting to the claims, PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar said that all these claims made by Monserrate are false and baseless.
“All the recruitments in PWD have been gone through a proper channel and there is no wrong doing,” he added
Pauskar also claimed that it is wrong on the path of Babush to put allegations on his own party member wherein it can damage the reputation of the BJP.
Yesterday, the BJP MLAs from Tiswadi had sought intervention of the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to the fact that majority of the jobs, advertised by Goa Medical College have gone to candidates from Valpoi and Poriem constituency.
Monserratte along with St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes and St Andre MLA Francisco Silveria called on Dean of GMC Dr Bandekar follwoing media report that 85% of candidates selected for LDC post in GMC are from Valpoi and Poriem constituency.
