BICHOLIM: Bicholim police have registered Crime No.127/2025 under Sections 106(1), 281, 125(a)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Sections 184, 4 read with 180 of the Motor Vehicles Act, after a fatal accident at Sarvan, Bicholim. The mishap occurred on September 28, 2025, at around 6.28 pm, in front of Shalimar Furniture Hub, near Adhar Hospital, Sarvan, when a Maruti Omni (GA-05-B-7091) driven by Pandurang Narayan Malvankar (45), resident of Sarvan, collided head-on with a Splendor motorcycle (GA-12-B-2461) proceeding towards Bicholim. The crash resulted in the death of the rider, Mohammad Sadiq (16) of Collem, Dharbandora, who succumbed to his injuries en route to GMC Bambolim, while the pillion rider, Hazarat Ali (14), sustained grievous injuries and one occupant of the Omni, Sudhakar Kavlekar, escaped with minor injuries. Police revealed that the motorcycle had been handed over to the minor rider by his father, Shapiulla Khanjade of Collem, despite knowing his son had no valid licence. The accused driver Pandurang Malvankar was arrested on September 29 at 10.40 am and remains in custody, while further investigation is being carried out by PSI Jayprakash Jankar of Bicholim Police Station.
