ALDONA: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 16-year-old minor near Bhagwati Temple, Carona, Aldona. The minor, who was riding a scooter without a valid driving license, was fatally injured in a collision with a school bus.
According to the complaint filed by HC Pritam Dabholkar of Mapusa Police Station, the scooter involved bore registration number GA.03.AG.5103 and was owned by Rangila, son of Molhu, a 50-year-old resident of Calvim, Aldona. Despite being fully aware of the traffic regulations on Aldona’s major roads, Rangila allowed the minor to ride his scooter.
The minor rider was reportedly driving the scooter recklessly. When negotiating a curve near Bhagwati Temple, the scooter veered sharply to the extreme right and collided head-on with a school bus (registration GA.07.S.0193) traveling from Aldona towards Calvim via Carona.
The accident resulted in grievous injuries to the minor, who later succumbed while undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College, Bambolim.
The case is being investigated by PSI Abhijit Naik of the Mapusa Police Station.
Authorities are reminding vehicle owners of their legal responsibility not to allow unlicensed persons to drive, stressing the dangers of such negligence on busy public roads.
