Ponda: Police have registered a case against two persons from Durbhat, Ponda, for allegedly wrongfully confining a minor boy and extorting money from him under the pretext of imposing a fine for travelling triple seat on a motorcycle.
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother (name withheld), resident of Ponda, the incident occurred on October 14, 2025, around 12:40 p.m., when the accused Shragan Naik (details not known) allegedly took away her minor son from her lawful guardianship to the residence of another accused, Tarkeshwar Naik, at Durbhat, Ponda.
The complaint further states that Tarkeshwar Naik wrongfully confined the minor and demanded ₹11,000 as a so-called “fine” for travelling triple seat. He also allegedly asked the boy to get ₹3,500 from his friend — the rider of the motorcycle — who subsequently transferred ₹2,000 to the accused. Tarkeshwar Naik then allegedly threatened the boy not to reveal the incident to anyone.
The Ponda Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter under relevant sections of law. PSI Pratik Bhat Prabhu is conducting further investigation.
