Porvorim: Four protesters from Mirabag who were detained for raising slogans from the visitors’ gallery during the ongoing session of the Goa Legislative Assembly were released on bail.
The individuals were taken into custody by security personnel after they staged a protest inside the gallery while the House proceedings were underway, briefly drawing the attention of legislators and prompting immediate intervention by security officials.
Following their release, the protesters criticised remarks allegedly made by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, claiming that he had referred to them as “terrorists.” .
The group strongly condemned the comment and clarified that they are workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party who have been actively associated with the party.
“We are not terrorists. We are BJP workers who have worked for the party,” the protesters said while reacting to the Chief Minister’s alleged remarks.
Meanwhile, former minister and ex-MLA Deepak Pauskar called on the authorities to resolve the long-pending Mirabag Bandara issue at the earliest. Pauskar warned that if the matter continues to remain unresolved, public frustration may escalate.
He said that if the issue is not addressed soon, people may eventually take the law into their own hands and the government should not hold them responsible later.
Pauskar urged the government to intervene promptly and find a solution to prevent further tensions.
