Later, Anand, a representative of n old building owner said that there has been already a Goa Engineering College report that this building is in a dangerous condition. There are occupants of this old building who do business here.
The municipality has also served them eviction notices but the occupants have continued to work from this old building.
He further said that the building owner had also sent a letter to the Mormugao municipality stating that the GEC report says that the old building is in a dangerous condition and the occupants should vacate it.
“If in the case in near future any untoward incident occurs here then the owner should not be held responsible for it” Anand said.
It may be recalled that over 44 structures have been identified as dilapidated and dangerous in the Mormugao Municipal jurisdiction. MMC is turning a blind eye to this issue.
