Calangute: A 30-year-old man from Telangana, reported missing by his family, was traced and reunited with his relatives by the Tourist Police Unit in Calangute on Monday evening, following swift and coordinated efforts by law enforcement personnel.
According to police sources, Dayakar Reddy Chilukuri and his family arrived at the Tourist Police Unit office in Calangute around 5:00 PM, reporting that their nephew, Sharad Reddy, had gone missing from Telangana. The family informed the police that an official missing person complaint had already been registered under FIR No. 67/2025 at Tadwai Police Station in Telangana. Based on mobile location tracking and inputs from relatives, Sharad was believed to be in the Calangute Beach area.
Acting on this information, the Tourist Police Unit, under the guidance of Police Inspector of the unit, swiftly mobilized staff and circulated Sharad’s details. Officers on duty at Calangute Beach, including PSI Sritesh Dessai and constables Yatin Shetye, Nagesh Parsekar, and Omkar Kauthankar, successfully located the missing man at the Planet O Beach Resort, Calangute.
Sharad Reddy, a B.Tech graduate, had reportedly applied for a job abroad but was not selected. Distressed over the rejection, he left for Goa without informing his family. Upon being found, he initially refused to return home, appearing emotionally distraught. However, after being brought to the Tourist Police Unit office and given counselling by officers, he agreed to return with his mother and other family members.
The prompt action and coordinated effort by the Goa Tourist Police have been praised by the family, who expressed their gratitude for safely reuniting them with their loved one.
