Panaji: Accepting the Supreme Court verdict, the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that the government will undertake all the rectifications in the Municipal ward reservation as pointed out by the Court.
He said that the government will also appoint an Independent full-fledged State Election Commissioner as directed by the Apex Court.
“ We accept the Court verdict. The mistakes that have happened at DMA level, are asked to rectify and the same will be done. We will abide by all the court instructions,” he said.
Sawant said that the elections scheduled in six municipalities and Panaji city corporation will be held on March 20, while in case of five municipalities, the new schedule will be announced.
Responding to a question, the Chief Minister said that not just in Goa, but in many parts of the country, Election Commissioner is either serving or retired IAS officer only.
