NEURA: In a significant move to enhance student safety, MLA Viresh Borkar today inaugurated the construction of a crucial retaining wall at Shri Dayanand Arya School. The ₹43 lakh project, launched with a foundation stone ceremony, aims to address two major threats to the school – seasonal flooding and wildlife intrusions.
The event saw participation from school headmaster, PTA representatives, Water Resources Department (WRD) officials, and School Management. For Many years, the school has battled waterlogging during monsoons when adjacent fields overflow, while reports of crocodile sightings in the area have raised additional safety concerns.
MLA Borkar emphasized his commitment to educational infrastructure: “This wall represents more than concrete – it’s our promise of safety to students and teachers. The dual protection from floods and animals will transform this school’s operational stability.”
MLA Borkar stated the project’s commencement was taken on urgency as the crocodile warnings were worrying and hence made him take up the project as a solution was urgently needed. The design incorporates ecological considerations, with proper drainage to prevent water stagnation that attracts reptiles and assured the completion of the work within six months.
