Valpoi: A portion of Urmila Gavkar’s house in Naneli, situated in the Thane Gram Panchayat area of Sattari, collapsed following heavy rains, rendering the remaining structure unsafe for habitation. The incident left the Gavkar family in a precarious situation, as the rest of the house is now at risk of collapsing at any moment.
Taking swift note of the matter, local MLA Dr. Deviya Rane visited the site and assured the family that a new house will be constructed for them. Speaking to reporters, Dr. Rane said that Urmila Gavkar is in no financial position to rebuild the house on her own, and therefore, she would personally bear the expenses of the new construction.
“Temporary arrangements have been made to ensure the family’s immediate safety and comfort. The construction of the new house will begin shortly,” MLA Rane informed.
Dr. Rane also highlighted that similar support has been extended to other families in the Parye constituency whose homes were damaged during the monsoon. Several houses have already been repaired or reconstructed under her initiative.
Meanwhile, Naneli ward member Tanaya Gaonkar expressed gratitude, stating that the MLA’s intervention has brought much-needed relief to the Gavkar family. “The assurance of a new home has given great support to this family in distress,” she said.
