Valpoi: Parye MLA Dr. Divya Rane appealed to women to become self-reliant by taking maximum benefit of government schemes aimed at their empowerment. She was speaking after distributing approval letters under the Ladli Lakshmi Yojana to 57 beneficiaries of her constituency at a function held at the Forest Rest House, Keri.
Rane said the BJP governments at the Centre and in the State were implementing schemes based on the principles of Antyodaya, Gramodaya and Sarvodaya, and women had been the biggest beneficiaries. “The government is extending financial assistance to women through various schemes, but instead of depending only on such assistance, women should use these opportunities to become self-reliant,” she said.
She explained that the Ladli Lakshmi Yojana was launched to reduce the financial burden on parents at the time of their daughter’s marriage. In the first phase, 57 women from different panchayat areas of Parye constituency have received benefits, while nearly 100 beneficiaries are expected to be covered in the coming phase.
Rane said the government has ensured that welfare schemes reach every section of society, without discrimination of caste, religion, or community. She thanked Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Women and Child Development Minister Vishwajit Rane for extending the benefits of the scheme in time for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Deputy Sarpanch of Keri Panchayat Usman Syed, along with several panchayat members including Bhiwa Gavas, Tanvir Pangam, Diksha Gavas, Sandeep Tate, Shripad Gavas, Nandita Gavas and Nilesh Parwar, were present for the programme.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government for providing timely assistance under the scheme.
