MANDREM: Putting an end to ongoing speculation, Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar has clarified that his wife, Adv. Siddi Arolkar, will not contest the upcoming Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections.
Arolkar said that although news had spread earlier and several karyakartas were enthusiastic about her potential candidature, he chose not to react immediately. Instead, he first held detailed discussions with his supporters.
“I have clearly told all our karyakartas that politics must be pursued individually and that there shouldn’t be dynasty politics. Just because others are doing dynasty politics, I am not someone who will do the same,” he stated.
He added that after explaining his stand, his karyakartas agreed with the decision.
“Our only focus is the development of the Mandrem constituency,” Arolkar emphasised, asserting that his priority remains public welfare rather than electoral advantages or family-driven political aspirations.
