BICHOLIM: At a legal awareness program organised by the Manohar Parrikar School of Law (Goa University) at the Ideal Highschool, Piligao
MLA Premendra Shet stressed the importance of introducing law education at the school level to inspire students to understand the judiciary and its role in society.
“While careers in medicine and engineering are often encouraged by parents, law remains an overlooked yet crucial field,” he said.
“The judiciary is a vast ocean of knowledge, and all crimes and injustices are addressed by legal experts,” experts noted. They emphasized that law is a fundamental pillar of society, and it is the responsibility of parents and teachers to encourage students to consider a career in law emphasized Shet.
Prof. Kim Couto Highlighted Children’s Right to Education.
Speaking about the recent incident wherein a Child Predator was nabbed in a late-night raid at Tivim Railway Station, Prof. Kim Couto said:
“It is our responsibility to protect the right of children, the right begins with parents, followed by schools, society, and ultimately the government”
Adv Emidio Pinho, spoke about the increasing incidents children using illegal e-cigarettes and children falling prey to cyber crimes.
The program was organised by MPS Goa University. The chief guest was MLA of Maem Constituency Premendra Shet, Dr. Prof. Kim Couto of V M Salgaocar College of Law and Ramachandra Garde, Chairmen of Idea HS were Guest of Honour. The Guest speakers were Dr Priya Onsakar of Salgaocar Law college and Adv Emidio Pinho Co- Founder of NGO SCAN – Goa. The program was coordinated by Dr. Vijay Gawas and hosted by Adv Gayatri Umraskar of Goa University.
The program was concluded by Dr. Prof. Maria Norma Menezes e Rebelo who gave the vote of thanks.
