PANAJI: The Goa Forward Party has requested the urgent creation of a Common Cadre for the Goa Police and IRBn to solve long-standing “disparities and injustices”.
In a letter to the Director General of Police (DGP), Goa Forward Party Chief Vijai Sardesai raised concerns over the government’s recent plan to merge only gazetted IRBn jobs with the Goa Police.
“This selective approach has caused significant discontent among IRBn personnel, who view the move as an attempt to benefit certain officers within the Goa Police while sidelining their counterparts in the IRBn,” writes Sardesai in a letter.
Sardesai noted that whereas IRBn officials from the 2010 batch are still classified as Police Sub-Inspectors (PSI), Goa Police officers from the 2013 batch have already been upgraded to the rank of Police Inspector. “IRBn personnel, who feel unjustly treated, have become frustrated and disillusioned as a result of these disparities,” he said.
In order to guarantee that all employees were treated fairly regardless of when they were appointed, the Goa Forward Party asked the government to move quickly to finish the Common Cadre’s establishment. According to Sardesai, any prolonged delay will damage the reputation of state law enforcement organizations as well as demoralize the IRB staff.
