MIRABAG: MLA Vijai Sardesai visited the “Amka Bandhara Naka” protest site at Mirabag and expressed solidarity with locals opposing the proposed dam project.
Addressing the agitators, the Goa Forward leader assured them that he would extend all necessary support to pursue the required legal procedures against the project.
Sardesai alleged that the proposed dam, estimated to cost ₹400 crore, is primarily intended to supply water to industries in the region rather than benefit local residents.
He further claimed that the Goa government is allocating the entire annual budget of the Water Resources Department (WRD), amounting to ₹400 crore, solely for the execution of this dam project.
The protestors have been demanding greater transparency, consultation, and clarity regarding the impact of the project on local communities and the environment.
