FATORDA: MLA Vijai Sardesai has urged the government not to disregard worthwhile projects only because he spearheaded their planning.
After visiting a canine sterilisation camp in Fatorda, Sardesai called on the government to expand the initiative throughout Goa in order to tackle the escalating problem of stray dogs, which he characterised as a danger to both locals and visitors.
In order to effectively manage the number of stray animals, the camp, which was organized by We For Fatorda, World Veterinary Services, and the South Goa Welfare Trust for Animals, has sterilized 535 dogs and 61 cats thus far.
“In order to find a long-term solution to the widespread stray dog problem, which poses a hazard to locals and tourists, I have been urging CMO Goa and the Goan government to duplicate this throughout Goa,” he added
Vijai said that Although he was personally pleased to have kept my word to the people of Fatorda regarding this camp, I am extremely dissatisfied with the idea’s rejection by the ruling class, excluding the minister’s attendance at the camp, and the government’s reluctance to implement it elsewhere,” he stated.
“I ask them not to use their ego or political rivalry with me to deny Goemkars and Goa what they are due,” he continued. Since Goa is larger than you and I, anything that benefits Goa should also benefit us all.
