VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC), under the leadership of Chairperson Girish Borker, has successfully resolved a longstanding issue with HPCL, resulting in a settlement of Rs 15 crores and the reclamation of a prime area spanning around 9000 square meters.
Expressing his satisfaction during the council meeting, Chairperson Girish Borker announced that a significant portion of the revenue, approximately Rs 8 crores, will be allocated towards addressing the pending retirement funds for MMC workers.
Borker emphasized the importance of settling this overdue issue, citing instances of retired staff who had not received their retirement funds for over two decades, some of whom had even passed away without receiving these benefits.
Borker also highlighted the council’s intention to allocate the remaining funds for development projects, as well as leveraging the reclaimed prime area for future revenue generation initiatives.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by MMC due to a shortage of workers and expressed determination to optimize the revenue generation potential of projects such as the Baina Power House building and The Chief Officer bungalow.
This significant recovery stands as one of the largest revenues earned by MMC in recent years, reflecting their commitment to addressing longstanding issues and pursuing initiatives for sustainable development.
