VASCO: Mormugao municipality is likely to call for a meeting with the Vasco Traffic Cell to decide on the pay parking issue. Proper parking is the need of the hour, says MMC chairperson Kaskar.
Taking the cognisance of the news report highlighted by Goemkarponn recently related to the occupying the parking spaces by the rent a bike operator, the Mormugao municipal council chairperson has rolled up his sleeves and decided to put the town parking in place with the help of Vasco traffic cell.
When questioned about the sorry state of parking in the Vasco town, Mormugao municipal council chairperson Damodar Kaskar stated that the issue of haphazard parking in the town is a chronic problem. The issue needs to be solved.
He further said that this parking issue was also recently discussed in the council meeting. There was also a proposal to make certain notified areas before the municipality building to make “pay parking”, but later it got delayed.
When questioned what steps he would take to make proper parking, Kaskar said that firstly a joint meeting with the Vasco traffic cell will be called to discuss and to see which areas are notified as parking areas in the town.
After this meeting, most likely we will be able to put proper parking in town,” he added.
A few days back, it may be recalled that this improper parking issue was highlighted by Goemkarponn in its news report, bringing it to the notice of the concerned authorities. Hopefully, the chronic issue of parking in the Port town if solved, will benefit the people and the visitors who come to Vasco for their work.
