New Delhi: The United States Embassy in India on Friday shared a message from Donald Trump praising Narendra Modi and highlighting the close relationship between the two leaders.
In a post on X, the embassy quoted Trump as saying that he and Modi are leaders who deliver results. The message also expressed confidence that the partnership between India and the United States will grow stronger in the future.
The post stated that the relationship between the two countries is exceptional and emphasised the strong personal rapport between the leaders. Trump described Modi as a respected and influential leader while reiterating his confidence in continued cooperation between the two nations.
The timing of the message comes as global attention remains focused on rising tensions in West Asia. However, it is not clear when the remarks referenced in the embassy’s post were originally made.
Earlier this year, Trump had made similar comments while speaking about a major trade agreement between the United States and India. During that announcement, he described Modi as one of his closest friends and praised his leadership.
The remarks also followed a recent phone conversation between the two leaders, their first discussion since the start of the latest conflict involving Iran. During the call, Modi raised concerns about the escalating situation in the region and emphasised the need to reduce tensions.
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure. The narrow waterway handles nearly one fifth of the world’s oil and gas trade and has been affected by the ongoing conflict in the Gulf.
Meanwhile, Abbas Araghchi said the route remains accessible to several friendly nations, including India, Russia and China. The developments underline the strategic importance of the shipping corridor for global energy supplies and international trade.
