ASSAGAO: The Anjuna Police have registered a case of molestation, assault, and wrongful restraint against three men following a complaint filed by a tourist from Maharashtra. The alleged incident took place near Villa Aquasol in Assagao, Bardez, on the evening of June 4.
According to the police, the complainant reported that at approximately 5:00 PM on June 4, a man identified as Dr. Inacio allegedly recorded videos of the complainant’s female family members without their consent. The complaint further states that Dr. Inacio then physically assaulted the complainant and his relatives, including women, with the alleged intent to outrage their modesty.
Another accused, identified as John, allegedly used obscene gestures and uttered inappropriate remarks aimed at the women in the group, allegedly intending to insult their dignity. The third accused, Ritz, along with Dr. Inacio and John, is accused of acting with a common intention to wrongfully restrain the family and prevent them from proceeding to their accommodation.
The case has been registered under multiple sections of the *Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)*, including Sections 115(2) (criminal intimidation), 74 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 351(2) (assault with intent to outrage modesty), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 352 (punishment for assault or criminal force), and 79 read with 3(5) (related to sexual harassment and intent to insult modesty).
A police official from Anjuna Police Station confirmed that the matter is under active investigation. No arrests have been reported as of yet.
