PANAJI: The spirit behind moot court is very much important as it provides the opportunity to the participants to develop skill of advocacy, research, judgment writing or policy formulation assisting to address the evolving challenges of our democracy in the days to come stated Minister for Law & Judiciary Aleixo Sequeira.
Sequeira was addressing as chief guest after inaugurating the Second Edition of Parrikar National Moot Court & Policy Hackathon on Celebration of 75 years of Adoption of the Indian Constitution at Dona Paula.
Goa University, Manohar Parrikar School of Law, Governance and Public Policy in association with Directorate of Higher Education & Goa Human Rights Commission organized the event. The event saw the participation of around 40 teams across the country.
The Minister further speaking said that the second edition of national moot court on adoption of our constitution wherein we are not just celebrating its glory of 75 years and exhorted to rededicating ourselves to a living, breathing foundation of the world’s largest democracy a testament to India’s commitment to justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.
Our constitution has survived to the test of time although facing many challenges, he added.
The Minister, highlighting the mark of 75 year mile-stone by our constitution, said we must recommit ourselves to the vision of our constitution.
Mere celebration of the constitution is not enough but honestly confronting its unfulfilled promises which means reinvigorating democratic institutions, strengthening federalism, expanding access to justice and ensuring economic growth benefits all citizens of this country.
He called upon the people to be the custodian of the constitution and hoped for the spirit of the constitution to guide our nation for generations to come. For in its wisdom, lies the path to a more just, equal and fraternal India, he added.
The Vice-Chancellor Goa University Sr. Prof. Harilal Menon while speaking about the Moot Court on 75 years of adoption of the Indian Constitution said our constitution is not just a legal document but the very soul of our democracy. It embodies the values of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, guiding our nation through its incredible journey of growth and transformation.
As we celebrate 75 years of this monumental achievement, this moot court offer an invaluable platform for budding legal minds to engage with constitutional principles, explore landmark judgments and critically analyze contemporary legal challenges.
He said he is confident that the participants during the two days deliberation bring fresh perspectives and thought provoking arguments to the table honoring the spirit of our constitution.
Prof. Menon speaking about the Policy Hackathon on Hinterland Tourism Policy in Goa said Goa is recognized all over the world for its pristine beaches and vibrant culture has untapped potential in its hinterland.
Our lush landscape, rich heritage and rural charm hold the promise of a unique tourism experience. However, he said, developing a sustainable and inclusive hinterland tourism policy requires innovative ideas, community-centric approaches and a delicate balance between economic growth and ecological preservation.
This hackathon, he said, is an ideal platform for young policy enthusiasts to brainstorm, debate, and propose actionable solutions that can transform Ghinterland into a thriving and responsible tourism hub he opined.
Professor BITS Pilani Goa Campus, Professor Debasis Patnaik, Director of Civil Aviation, Dr. Suresh Shanbhogue ( Rtd ), Heads on Historian Shri Sanjiv Sardessai, faculty members, vice Chancellors, students and others were present at the function.
