VASCO: Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar has fulfilled another promise to his constituents by launching a new bucket-mounted crane for the Electricity Department. The official launch took place on Monday morning in the presence of officials from the department, marking a significant improvement in the infrastructure available for addressing electrical issues in the region.
Speaking to the media, Amonkar highlighted the challenges that the Mormugao Taluka faced with only one crane serving the entire area. “Previously, the single crane was shared across the entire Taluka, which meant that it was available for the Mormugao constituency only one day a week. This situation caused delays in addressing complaints from the public, as the Electricity Department struggled to meet the demands in a timely manner,” Amonkar explained.
Amonkar took up this pressing issue during a recent Assembly session, where he emphasized the need for a dedicated bucket mounted crane for the Mormugao constituency. He expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Power Minister Sudin Dhavlikar for listening to his concerns and acting promptly. “I am thankful to the CM and the Power Minister for understanding the urgency of this issue and ensuring that cranes were procured not just for Mormugao but for every electricity sub-division in the state,” Amonkar said.
The acquisition of these new cranes has not only benefited Mormugao but has had a positive impact across Goa. With a dedicated crane for each sub-division, the Electricity Department will be better equipped to handle issues related to street lighting, tree cutting, and other electrical maintenance tasks more efficiently.
Electricity Department officials also expressed their satisfaction with the new equipment, noting that it will be put to immediate use. Amonkar emphasized that the availability of these cranes will greatly improve the department’s ability to respond quickly to issues in the Mormugao constituency, thereby enhancing the quality of services provided to the residents.
This development is seen as a significant step towards improving the infrastructure and service delivery in the Mormugao constituency, and it underscores MLA Amonkar’s commitment to addressing the needs of his constituents.
