VASCO: Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar has initiated the long-awaited Public Works Department (PWD) project of laying a new sewerage line and constructing 20 new chambers in the Sada area. The launch took place in the presence of Councillor Shraddha Amonkar and local residents.
Speaking to the media, MLA Amonkar highlighted that the sewerage issues had plagued the residents of Sada for over four decades. “The people here have been struggling for a very long time. The overflowing sewage caused such inconvenience that residents had to wash their feet before entering their homes,” Amonkar explained.
He expressed satisfaction that the long-pending demand of the residents was finally being addressed. “We have launched the works of laying a new sewerage pipeline that will put an end to these problems. Additionally, 20 new chambers will be constructed, which will prevent the frequent blockages in existing chambers,” Amonkar added.
The project, costing Rs 20 lakhs, is expected to be completed within two months. Amonkar further stated that other essential issues in the area are also being looked into, including water supply shortages in Headland Sada. Plans are underway for the construction of two large-capacity water reservoirs to resolve these water supply problems, with work on this project set to begin soon.
