The Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar has informed that most of the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandals in Salcete and Canacona have decided to hold just one and half day Ganesh festival, following the COVID19 pandemic.
Kavlekar chaired a meeting with the organisers of Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandals and so also the Hindu priests. The meeting was also attended by the District Collector Ajit Roy and Superintendent of Police Pankaj Kumar Singh.
Kavlekar said that the State government has insisted on holding just one and half day festival to avoid rush and spread of Coronavirus.
“I have also told our priests to take all preventive measures as they go house to house,” he said adding “the discussions at the meeting will be now placed before CM, who will decided on the SOP for the festival.”
