BAINA: Uma and Shivam Patil, a mother-son duo from Zuari Complex in Baina, have been detained by Vasco police in connection with a fraud case.
They are accused of defrauding Rashmi Vinod Chopdekar, a woman from Ribandar, out of Rs 6 lakhs. Vehicles owned by the defendants in the case have also been seized by Vasco police.
According to reports, the incident happened at Vasco on November 21, 2021, and both accused parties made a commitment to get her son a government position, but they fell short of it.
Chopdekar, a housewife and resident of Chimbel, Ribandar, filed a complaint alleging that the two forced her to pay Rs 6 lakhs in order to get her son a job as a Police Constable in the Goa Police Department.
However, it is alleged that the accused dishonestly defrauded her after receiving the money by failing to give her the promised job or return the money.
